Expanded Partnership will Provide More Funding to Women Coaches’ Programs and Deliver Scholarships to Help Further Higher Education Opportunities for Coaches’ Children

San Marcos, TX, December 16, 2022 — The Texas High School Coaches Association announced today that it has expanded its partnership with BSN SPORTS, the nation’s largest direct marketer and distributor of sporting goods to the school and league markets, with a new five-year agreement that makes BSN SPORTS the cornerstone sporting goods sponsor of the THSCA.

BSN SPORTS, a division of Varsity Brands, has been a title sponsor of THSCA for more than 20 years and serves as a uniform supplier for more than 1,600 high schools throughout the state of Texas. By becoming a cornerstone sponsor, BSN SPORTS not only extends its relationship with the largest coaching association in the United States, but will be funding several significant THSCA programs to help support all sports and all coaches.

“Our mission is to empower coaches in every sport so they can lead their schools and improve the lives of their student-athletes, but we could never do it without the support from dedicated partners like BSN SPORTS,” THSCA Executive Director Joe Martin said. “They have been supporting our coaches for more than two decades and we are thrilled to expand that relationship even further and provide even more resources to our members.”

The THSCA has grown to more than 25,000 members with a significant increase in women coaches over the last three years, thanks in part to the organization’s focus on diversity and inclusion. By funding the Leadership in Women’s Sports Panel and networking reception at the THSCA’s annual convention and committing to host A Seat at the Table, a conversation and leadership program for female coaches, BSN SPORTS is creating more opportunity for women to excel in coaching.

BSN SPORTS President Terry Babilla said, “BSN SPORTS is proud of this opportunity to expand our partnership with THSCA, while aligning with other prominent Cornerstone Sponsors who share the organization’s passion for leading and advocating on behalf of Texas coaches. Whether through dedicated efforts to provide equitable opportunities to coaches or through new scholarship initiatives, this sponsorship further aligns over 120 Texas-based BSN SPORTS sales professionals to our promise to serve and support coaches on and off the field.”

In addition to supporting women’s programs, BSN SPORTS will also grant $5,000 in scholarships to provide higher education opportunities to two coaches’ children (one female and one male student) each year, help fund the THSCA’s annual Texas Get Together, a networking reception for high school and Texas college coaches in January, and provide apparel and additional support for the R.O.C.K. Mentoring program.
